Special Offering to Support Memphis Food Bank

To be received Sunday, 29 October 2017.

As a result of the recent power outages due to heavy storms, the Memphis Food Bank lost some 11,000 pounds of food from its refrigerators and freezers. The loss was so great that the television news reported the City of Memphis had to charge them a dumping fee to haul off all the spoiled food. Our Session has authorized a special offering to help them restock and continue their crucial service.

Church members are available to “put our best foot forward,” welcome visitors, and answer questions. We prepare, pack, and distribute gift bags with favors for children and church brochures for adults. For more information and to participate, contact Growth Team Co-Chairs Norma and Jerry Owens.

Next Rosemark Country Fair: Saturday, Fall 2018. The fair involves a large number of booths, displays, and exhibits. Refreshments are available. Last year we saw art work, classic cars and tractors, a blacksmith at work, and a variety of farm animals.  We also made many new friends. Entry is free!

Northaven Elementary School

Just launched, our new Mission Project will involve our “adopting” the Northaven School.  Among Shelby County Schools, Northaven is extremely challenged with regard to funding and resources. We believe Jesus loves children, and so we are reaching out with love in His name.  We are rejoicing in a generous gift to help us pioneer this ministry. Please see the letter of thanks and the pictures from Northaven on the bulletin board in the church lobby. We anticipate receiving donations at least twice a year: TBA.  Contact: Rosemark Presbyterian Women.

Next offering for Northaven: “Socks for Tots,” We will collect new socks and underwear for  Boys & Girls from size Toddler PK to Grade 5. Many children come to school in the cold weather without socks! This offering will be received Sunday, December 10, 2017.

Mission Haven

A Furlough Home for Presbyterian Missionaries

The national Prebyterian Women support this project which has a goal of matching a $10,000.00 Challenge Grant.  Mission Haven has three homes and six apartments for Presbyterian missionaries who return to the U.S.A. with their families for a much needed break.

One of the houses needs to have a heating unit replaced, and all the units need new washers and driers plus similar “big ticket” items.

Supporting Mission Haven in cooperation with our neighboring P.C.U.S.A. presbyteries and synods enables us to participate in and strengthen worldwide Presbyterian outreach and service.  Contact: Rosemark Presbyterian Women.
